Oaklane Retreat is well situated to explore the magnificent Prom Coast between Welshpool and Cape Liptrap. There are many scenic walks and stunning beaches for all kinds of wateractivities: like swimming , surfing , body boarding, windsurfing, blow carts, sailing and much more.

Visit one of the many art galleries or play golf, or just relax and enjoy some food and wine.

Ride your bicycle on the very scenic Great Southern Rail Trail between Foster and Leongatha.

Visit the local markets: Promontory Home and Produce Market, next on Oct.31st , Dec.5th 2010, Farmers Market every 3rd Saturday of the month.

Foster is a good starting point for visiting all the scenic sites in beautiful South Gippsland.

Turtons Creek Falls: a scenic drive through gullies of old rainforest, picnic area and walking track.

Port Franklin: a charming fishing village with lovely boardwalks and picnic facilities, fresh fish available.

Agnes Falls: scenic, easy walk to impressive waterfalls, picnic area, on the way scenic lookout from Silcocks Hill Road , Toora, across Corner Inlet to the Prom.

Sandy Point: a beautiful swimming and surf beach, patrolled over summer, lovely for beach walks and enjoying an icecream in the cafe’ of this idyllic beach town.

Waratah Bay: another safe surf beach beside a dreamy holiday township, lovely picnic areas and playground, surf fishing and walking tracks to explore.

Walkerville North and South: both overlook the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park and Wilsons Prom, Walkerville South is the site of a once thriving lime kiln, lovely coastal walk, picnic tables and electric BBQ

Explore the historic goldmining town of Foster with its many shops and services catering for all your needs.

Information centre: permanently staffed by shire officers or helpful volunteers, housed in the same building as the Public Library.

Stockyard Gallery: a wonderful gallery with fortnightly changing exhibitions and a well stocked Art and Craft shop.

Historic Museum: displaying Foster’s goldmining and pioneering history

Promontory Home Produce and Craft Markets: one of the best craft markets in Gippsland, Foster Showgrounds, starting Sunday 1st Nov., next on 6th Dec. and 27th Dec. 2009.

Swimming Pool: outdoor pool, Reserve Rd., Foster
